Springtime!

We are always so happy to see winter give way to spring.  The weather warms with more sunshine, the buds start appearing on the trees, and the birds begin singing again.  This year the winter was very brutal and on top of that I had been derailed by a broken ankle.  So, my winter seemed unusually tough!

Now, I am looking forward to some milder weather and to begin walking outside again, checking out nature’s plants and animals in my area.  I feel so grateful that I live on a lake where I can see so much right outside my window.

It’s also that time of year to clear out the old unused stuff to make room to breathe!  That has become a spiritual practice for me.

Bright Spots!

istock_000004185339xsmallLooks like we are starting to turn the corner on the negative news.  It’s about time!  I was so encouraged hearing some bright spots this week.

There’s light at the end of the tunnel!

Managing Your Time

Sunday, March 1st, 2009

timemanagementclockHere’s an excerpt from an article I wrote that was published in a national magazine this month:

  • Use only one calendar.
  • Schedule your time in blocks, including personal and work blocks.
  • Important projects should be handled early in the day when you are fresh.
  • Handle mundane work later in the day when you may not be as sharp.
  • Take time at the end of the day to plan for the following day.
  • Schedule phone time for following up with clients.
  • Set time aside for special projects or training programs.
  • Check email and phone messages periodically, schedule response times.
  • Keep your database and filing up to date, schedule time regularly.
  • Review your systems periodically to improve upon them.
